i’ve spent so many years trying to harden myself, trying to thicken my own skin because i thought that’s what “strong” meant. now i just want to go back and tell myself over and over: be soft. because now, i’m trying to scrape off all that hard, all that cold. i’m trying to learn what it means to let myself fall into someone’s hands warm and gentle.
